Candidates are responsible for all costs associated with relocating to the Tucson area, if applicable.Recruiter contact information: If you have any questions, please contact Dmitriy.Adamia@Tucsonaz.govABOUT THIS JOBPosition Specific SummaryThe Long Range Planning Section Manager position at the City of Tucson's Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) is responsible for overseeing daily activities, supervising personnel, and leading initiative related to code development, community planning, or development entitlements.Work is performed under the supervision of the Planning Administrator. This position exercises supervision over planning personnel.Duties and Responsibilities* Collaborates to guide the future growth and development of Tucson, through amending zoning and other development codes, overseeing community planning efforts, leading entitlement efforts, and implementing the general plan, neighborhood and area plans, corridor plans and other land use plans. Makes recommendations to ensure coordinated long-range plans for sustainable development of the community. Assists with developing and managing the section budget.* Attends, facilitates and presents at public meetings, including occasional evening and weekend meetings. Acts as a liaison to departments, the public, and outside organizations by educating the public on initiatives. Develops strategic partnerships and contacts with community representatives, external agencies, and other organizations to understand relevant issues facing our community and to respond as a representative of the City.* Organizes and manages daily operations, oversees the work of programs, projects, and principal level personnel. Supervises a team of staff and promotes maximum employee productivity and morale. Hires, mentors, trains and evaluates employee performance. Investigates and resolves, disciplinary action, grievances and other concerns as needed.* Ensures and audits that division operations conform with local, state and federal governmental regulations, other applicable rules and requirements. Empowers and motivates staff to develop and implement process improvements to enhance customer experience. Provides information to the public and customers regarding development issues and offering a solutions-based approach.* Maintains professional knowledge through such means as attending seminars, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional organizations.
