The Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail is hiring a Pastry Cook to support our award winning culinary program This position offers the opportunity to craft high quality pastries and desserts in a fast paced detail driven environment Wage 1950 2150 hour plus a culinary appreciation fee Application Deadline Hiring will occur on a rolling basis Applications will be accepted until April 15th or until the positions are filled Primary Purpose of Position The BakerPastry Cook under general supervision performs a variety of baking duties and assists with the preparation of breads rolls muffins cookies pies cakes doughnuts biscuits and other pastries Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares breads rolls muffins cookies pies cakes doughnuts biscuits and other pastries including icings and frostings according to established recipesReviews production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activitiesShapes dough for cookies pies and fancy pastries either by hand or by using dough rollers and cookie cuttersSpreads or sprinkles a range of various delicious toppings on specialty baked itemsReceives ingredients and other supplies from main kitchen andor pantry as required for daily operationsCuts and weighs dough into uniform portions with knife or divider molds dough into loaves or other shapes and places in pans; proofs dough and bakes in oven using peel; inspects product for quality during and after baking and makes adjustments to processes as requiredCleans and maintains work areas utensils and equipmentDetects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food defective suppliesequipment andor other unusual conditionsCompletes production sheets and other records as requiredMay be required to prepare baked goods for special dietsPerforms miscellaneous job related duties as assignedEducationExperience High school diploma or GED2 to 5 years of baking experience preferredCulinary degree preferredSpecial SkillsEquipment Able to accurately measure ingredientsSkilled in the use of a wide array of kitchen and baking equipmentEssential Physical Requirements Lifting boxes and trays not limited to 30 lbsCutting with knives and the use of other utensilsBendingStanding for extended periods 2 hoursSafe operation of ovens and stovesConsiderable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors andor loud noisesEmployee conduct It is the responsibility of every employee to contribute to a positive work environment through cooperative and professional interactions with co workers guests and vendorsBenefits Medical Dental Vision InsuranceResort DiscountsHoliday Pay Paid Time Off and Sick Pay401k Retirement Plan & Roth 401kVoluntary Life InsuranceShort Term & Long Term DisabilityEmployee Assistance ProgramParking Credit or Discounted Bus Passes
