Senior Maintenance Specialist

Description:

Job Purpose:

Develop procedures and training documentation and for use in the mining and metallurgical processing industry. Conduct training sessions using documentation produced by Performance Associates International (PAI).

Prerequisites:

  • B.S. Degree in engineering (preferred emphasis in mechanical or reliability engineering) or related scientific discipline, or
  • A minimum of ten years of maintenance experience in an operating mine or metallurgical processing plant, or related facility, in a supervisory position.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrument drawings (P&IDs).
  • Review and interpret operating control philosophies and logic, functional descriptions, control narratives, and miscellaneous engineering and equipment supplier documentation.
  • Review original equipment manufacturer (OEM) documentation, including installation, operation, and maintenance (IOM) manuals; general arrangement (GA)drawings; single line diagrams; hydraulic diagrams; isometric drawings; 3D models; specification sheets; etc., for client assets to determine make, model, selected options, and other details of installed equipment.
  • Write maintenance training content in accordance with PAI policies and standards.
  • Write maintenance procedures (standard maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance procedures) in accordance with PAI policies and standards.
  • Perform technical edits of maintenance training content and maintenance procedures, and provide feedback to other technical staff.
  • Follow PAI standard procedures for training content and procedures development, including file management procedures.
  • Collect data and validate draft training materials and procedures at client mine and plant locations.
  • Assist in identifying applicable maintenance procedures for specific client assets.
  • Assist in performing maintenance readiness planning studies for new start-ups.
  • Using training documentation produced by PAI, deliver classroom and field training instruction either remotely or at client locations.
  • Collaborate with the PAI editing department in the development of training content and procedures, including implementation of editor feedback.
  • Collaborate with the PAI multimedia department in the development of graphicsand animations for use in training content and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other PAI technical staff to discuss, answer questions, etc. of cir-cuits, equipment, and processes as necessary.
  • Participate in the process of continuous improvement of PAI products and services.
  • Follow PAI procedures as outlined in the company handbook.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • High-level of mechanical and operational aptitude. Expert-level of some specialized mechanical equipment as per experience.
  • Expert-level of OEM documentation familiarity.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft office suite and Microsoft operating system file management, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with Internet search engines.
  • Prepared for worldwide travel and have and maintain an up-to-date passport.
  • Ability to obtain annual MSHA 5000-23 as scheduled by PAI.
  • Ability to adhere to client site health and safety requirements.
