Qualifications & Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years secretarial experience, preferably at an elementary school.
Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge and understanding of children.
Skills in human relations.
Ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.
Knowledge and understanding of administrative and secretarial practices.
Ability to efficiently complete clerical tasks.

Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains office in a professional, efficient and organized manner.
Prepares correspondence, reports, and related material.
Opens and distributes incoming correspondence.
Maintains general office files.
Assists principal with routine clerical and organizational tasks.
Makes appointments and maintains daily calendar for principal.
Receives office visitors, answers phone calls, responds to inquiries, and assists parents, students, teachers, and other school personnel.
Maintains site records of staff leaves and absences.
Assists school health office staff and takes over minor duties during health office staff's absence.
Maintains substitute list for teachers and instructional assistants.
Maintains and updates information on school website.
Keeps financial and statistical records.
Assists with registering new students and implementing withdrawals.
Handles cash transactions and receipting through point of sale system, prepares deposits to the business office.
Coordinates and prepares annual capital outlay requests obtaining vendors and quotes.
Assists in selecting, ordering, and inventory of instructional material.
Assists site administrator in the development and monitoring of budgets and inventories of equipment, furniture, textbooks, computers, etc.
Oversees the Instructional Media Center operation to include monitoring the budget, ordering, distribution, inventory, repairs, monitoring fixed assets and service contracts, and entering student activity requisitions.Supervise the IMC assistant (if applicable) in the operation of site copiers, equipment, and other related duties.
General Information:
Serves as administrative assistant to the Elementary School Principal and performs specialized and complex administrative assistant duties.
