Manufacturing Technician

Description:

As a Manufacturing Technician of Ascension Wheelchair Lifts, your primary responsibility will be to meticulously follow assembly blueprints and material requisitions to assemble and grind wheelchair lift assemblies and subassemblies. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our products are crafted with precision and adhere to AGM's stringent quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read assembly drawings and materials lists to accurately produce wheelchair lift subassemblies.
  • Skillfully install various components, such as windows, gates, motors, switches, and handles, to complete wheelchair lift units.
  • Thoroughly test completed wheelchair lifts to ensure they meet AGM's performance criteria and document results in accordance with Company policies.
  • Proficiently operate all tools and machinery required in the production process of elevator/wheelchair lifts.
  • Maintain a consistent track record of meeting or surpassing production targets.
  • Maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Work closely with your Supervisor to devise strategies for enhancing production efficiency and troubleshooting production-related challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and ensure a clean and organized work area.
  • Promptly report and rectify any unsafe working conditions.
  • Adhere to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) procedures to guarantee compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and have some skill for hands-on work, both large and small
  • Mechanical skills: electronic components such as switches, motors, and gate controls; fabrication and assembly of moving and non-moving parts
  • Must be able to use hands to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms, lift, carry and work with steel stock; assemble large and small subassemblies
  • Must be capable of moving large amounts of steel stock and frequently move 50 pounds and occasionally move or lift 75 pounds with assistance
  • Experience with hand and power tools is required
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as material lists, procedure prints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong English proficiency is required; must have ability to write routine job reports and complete required paperwork and speak effectively in one-on-one or small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions or decimals, and compute ratios
Education & Experience: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. and six months to one year of relevant fabrication and assembly experience and/or training is required; an equivalent combination of training and experience along with a higher level of education will be considered.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working around and with moving mechanical parts or machines. This position also requires an employee to safely operate and maintain welding equipment. In addition, the employee is exposed to, and will come in direct contact with, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials. Therefore, the employee must follow proper safety procedures.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Licenses & Certifications: Must be or become forklift certified by AGM.

  1. Please note that this is an on-site role, and remote work arrangements are not available. Candidates must be willing and able to work at our facility during designated working hours.


Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with 30 minutes for lunch and two paid, ten-minute breaks per day. Occasional overtime may be requested.
40 hours per week
