The Public Safety Transcription Technician transcribes recorded or written law enforcement officer reports into department-approved formats or onto required forms using computer-based resources to meet departmental and legal standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness. It is distinguished from other clerical, administrative, and Public Safety-related technicians and specialists by its primary focus on the accurate transcribing of legally sufficient reports and documentation.
Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certification required at time of application. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information: License and Certificates: Within six months of employment, employees must attain and maintain access certification for all relevant departmental databases required of assigned position. Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination. Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Pre-/post-appointment drug screening and polygraph examinations are required of all positions in this classification due to need for access as described above. Some positions may require bilingual abilities in English and a second language, as determined by the Department.
