Collects blood specimens and maintains the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed. Processes, labels and distributes specimens for testing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Properly identifies patient before obtaining specimen and labels the samples subsequent to the collection in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Performs any laboratory procedures, which must be accomplished at the time of collection. Transports patients specimens to the laboratory, or makes arrangements for delivery of specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner. Keys and verifies computer input data, assigns identification numbers, and produces specimen collection lists/labels and other computer reports. Legibly documents failure-to-draw reasons according to laboratory policies and procedures. Processes and delivers specimens received in the laboratory to the proper sections for analysis.
