gpac (The #1 Recruiting Firm in the Nation) is partnering with a respected defense law firm to identify an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Paralegal to support a busy malpractice and professional liability defense practice in Phoenix.

Position: Medical Malpractice Defense Paralegal

About the Role

This paralegal will support attorneys defending physicians, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems in complex medical negligence litigation. The role involves extensive medical record analysis, expert coordination, discovery management, and trial preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and organize large volumes of medical records and discovery materials
  • Prepare medical chronologies, summaries, and issue timelines
  • Assist with expert retention, disclosures, and coordination
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, and legal correspondence
  • Track deadlines, filings, and litigation calendars
  • Support depositions, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of medical malpractice or professional liability defense experience
  • Strong experience handling medical records, causation analysis, and damages documentation
  • Familiarity with Arizona civil procedure and discovery rules preferred
  • Excellent organization, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex, document-heavy cases independently
