Maintenance Electrician I

Vacancies exist for the position of Maintenance Electrician I in the Maintenance section of Tucson Power Production.

All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Starting pay for this position is $51.06 per hour.

The Maintenance Electrician I is responsible for the efficient and safe maintenance and repair of all power plant and related equipment. Successful individuals placed into this classification will be responsible for the below position-related responsibilities. In addition, they are required to complete qualification signoffs as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician within two years of placement into this role.

Position-related responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain all electrical systems
  • Maintain and overhaul electric motors from 24 volt to 5 kV single and three phase
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical starting devices 12volt to 13.8 kV
  • Maintain and service U.P.S. battery/inverter systems
  • Maintain and repair all electrical aspects pertaining to gas turbines and associated equipment (motor control, transformers, excitation, turbine control, AC/DC machines)
  • Maintain all electrical lighting systems in all areas of power production
  • Design, fabricate and install conduit runs 1/2" to 5" to required equipment
  • Perform assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Must understand and safely work with voltages up to and including 13.8 kV.
  • Basic math skills including trigonometry.
  • Basic mechanical skills and tool handling.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Developed electrical theory skills including AC & DC systems.
  • Advanced motor theory skills including motor repair knowledge.
  • Knowledge of electronic solid state theory.
  • Ability to draw and read electric prints and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to understand and present oral and written directions.
  • Must have general knowledge of power station generation systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC functionality, One-Line diagrams, and Industrial Electrical Schematics.
  • Relay functionality and protection.
  • VFD (installation and programming).
  • Low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers and motor control.

Pay Rate: $51.06
