Job Location: 4211 S Santa Rita Avenue, Tucson, AZ
Salary: $49,500 - $59,500 (Grade 20)
Remote Options: Eligible for Remote Work up to two days a week.
Job Summary
The Arizona Attorney Generals Office Child and Family Protection Division/Protective Services Section is seeking a Legal Assistant Project Specialist (Paralegal Supervisor) to provide training, guidance and leadership to unit Paralegal IIIs (LAIII); oversee duties of assigned paralegals, ensure timely filing and preparation of documents, manage case load and distribution of tasks during absences, collaborate closely with assistant attorneys general (AAG) and report directly to the Unit Office Administrator (OA).
Job Duties
Provide support for one or more AAGs through legal research, evidence gathering, drafting pleadings, briefs, opinions and legislation for dependency/severance cases. Respond to inquiries from clients, court personnel and others using automated case management systems. Comply with laws, rules, and office policies. Approve timesheets and leave requests. Perform supervisory functions under direction of Unit OA and Section OA. Review, create, process confidential materials and undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge: Applicable statutes, rules, regulations of state and federal courts; legal research techniques, terminology, forms, court procedures and time frames; extensive knowledge of Juvenile Court Rules of dependency, severance, and guardianship practice.
- Skill: Written and oral communication; public interaction; coordinating legal requests, inquiries and responses expeditiously; conducting and controlling interviews with witnesses and parties involved in legal actions.
- Ability: Appropriately incorporate current laws and procedures; analyze situations and exercise good judgment; independently identify issues and prepare concise analyses of case files; prepare legal pleadings, memoranda and correspondence; interact with witnesses, litigants, court officials and state agency representatives.
Selective Preference
The ideal candidate will have leadership experience and at least two years of full?time paralegal employment.
Pre?Employment Requirements
- Travel may be required. A valid Arizona Drivers License and consent to periodic driving record checks are required.
- All applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a criminal background check through state and federal agencies before a job offer can be made.
- Newly hired State employees must complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E?Verify).
