The Banquet Captain is responsible for the oversight and execution of catered functions; including service, food preparation, equipment use and food safety practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Oversees and assist with the setup, service and breakdown of events, ensuring that all aspects run smoothly.
* Greets and welcome guests, assist with seating and food service.
* Responsible for assisting with the set-up, service and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions; sometimes multiple events in a day.
* Coordinates orders and table service.
* Serves food and beverages to guests efficiently, ensuring proper presentations and timing.
* Works collaboratively with the Event Planning team to ensure exceptional customer service.
* Addresses any unexpected changes such as; increase in attendees, changes in dietary restrictions and staffing adjustments.
* Acts as a point of contact for the client and/or host; Addresses and resolves client complaints.
* Anticipates potential issues during events and proactively resolve them.
* Assists in the training and mentoring of food service staff.
* Monitors and maintains banquet supplies.
* Ensures all supplies are in good working condition before each event and request replacements as necessary.
* Ensures safe handling of food and sanitation of equipment.
* Handles customer complaints promptly and work to find a resolution.
* Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of customer service, catering operations and safe food service practices.
* Ability to effectively communicate effectively.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to move/transport up to 50lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
* Five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
* Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with high volume off-site catering in a University setting.
