The School of Geography, Development, and Environment at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate level in Physical Geography.
The School seeks to hire a physical scientist who pursues societally relevant research that helps better understand variability and change in Earth systems as well as interactions and feedback between humans and the environment. Specific areas of research include, but are not limited to wildfire, climate and water resources, land use / land cover change, and/or natural hazards. The candidate will show promise in building and sustaining an active research program in their discipline.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and actively participate in the vigorous interdisciplinary environmental programs within the School and across the University. As a faculty member, the candidate will develop courses based on their background and expertise that align with departmental needs. Additionally, the candidate is expected to support the School's robust culture of student mentorship by involving graduate and undergraduate students in their research program.
The School of Geography, Development & Environment is a vibrant working and learning environment, offering six undergraduate degrees: BA and BS in Geography, BS in Urban and Regional Development, BA in Environmental Studies, BA in Food Studies, and an online BS in Geographic Information Systems Technology, as well as undergraduate minors in Geography, Urban and Regional Development, Geographic Information Science, and Environmental Studies. The School also offers graduate degrees in Geography, both MA and PhD, and a professional master's degree in Geographic Information Systems Technology.
