Maintenance Associate I Or Maintenance Associate Apprentice

The Town of Marana is seeking a Maintenance Associate I or Maintenance Associate Apprentice to work in the Street Division of the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in a fast-paced environment. The Public Works Department provides services that are vital to our community's health, safety and comfort. Normal work hours: 6:00 4:30 4 days a week with mandatory rotating on-call. Maintenance Associate I: Expected hiring range: $17.87/hour - $21.89/hour. Salary range: $17.87/hour - $25.91/hour.

Maintenance Associate Apprentice: Hiring rate: $16.00/hour.

Examples of duties:

• Performs routine semi-skill maintenance and/or landscaping tasks: inspects, cleans, and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems; uses a variety of hand and power tools.
• Provides service to internal and external customers.
• Sweeps and maintains right-of-way roads by operating street sweeper.
• Removes and replaces concrete by operating light equipment; cutting and breaking out damaged concrete; setting forms and pre-subgrade area; mixing concrete; pouring and finishing concrete.
• Removes and replaces asphalt; cuts asphalt; prepares and compacting subgrade, installs new asphalt, crack seals roads, apply hot crack sealant, and spreads and levels sealant.

Minimum qualifications:

• Maintenance Associate I: High school diploma or GED equivalency. 6 months of street construction/maintenance experience or closely related field. Valid Arizona Driver License. Must complete a pre-employment physical including audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test. Complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
• Maintenance Apprentice: High school diploma or GED equivalency. Valid Arizona Driver License. Must complete a pre-employment physical including audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test. Complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
