CPLC Family Immigration Services helps reunite families that have been divided by international borders or mixed immigration statuses.

Serving Tucson, Somerton, and Nogales, Arizona, our services are accredited by the Department of Justice's Board of Immigration

Appeals.

CPLC seeks a bilingual (English/Spanish) Administrative Support Specialist to handle phones, greet visitors, schedule appointments, maintain files, and support staff with client services. Requires HS diploma/GED, 1 year office experience, MS Office skills, and valid AZ driver's license.

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

Provides Support services to CPLC staff by answering the phone, taking messages, greeting the public, scheduling, and assessing service to be provided to client.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Answers the telephone in an efficient and courteous manner
    • Determines the nature of the business and directs them to appropriate staff
  • Schedules appointments for counselors and sends reminders to clients
  • Receives visitors and clients, determines the nature of the business, and directs them to appropriate staff
  • Provides general introductory immigration information to clients
  • Prepare clients files for immigration counselors
  • Makes copies, files, faxes for staff and clients
  • Completes simple translation of documents from Spanish to English or English to Spanish
  • Completes a variety of forms for clients
  • Maintains statistical data for monthly reports
  • May perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:
  • High School Diploma or GED,
  • Minimum 1 year of office experience
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • Must maintain valid Arizona Driver's License, vehicle insurance, and availability to be covered under CPLC policy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requirements: This position is both a mobile and a sedentary position with periods of light physical activity and is performed mostly in office surroundings. Positions typical in nature require regular walking or standing; sitting, lifting, and carrying up to 20 pounds; climbing stairs, bending, reaching, holding, grasping, and turning objects; and using fingers to operate computer keyboards. This position will require the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

Travel: To successfully fulfill the duties of this position, local, interstate, and intrastate travel to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates, and/or subsidiaries will be necessary. The candidate must have and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Technology will be utilized to minimize travel whenever feasible. The travel requirements for this position are anticipated to be 25 to 35 percent assignment, depending on the assignment. Overnight travel must be approved in advance by the Department VP.
