The Hardware Engineering, Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking Mechanical Engineers for our Tucson AZ site supporting full program life cycle, early development, production support, and legacy sustainment activities across the Standard Missile family of programs.
This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.
This position is onsite in Tucson, Arizona.
What You Will Do:
Execution of tasks related to Design, Manufacturing and Integration of mechanical sub-systems
Advising technical leadership based on data driven conclusions
Production support of various internal mechanical sub-systems
Supplier Support for mechanical sub-systems
First hardware builds and article inspections at suppliers
Work instruction reviews and Material dispositions
Root cause investigations to production issues
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience.
Two years of directly related work experience in mechanical design and design documentation
Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline
Four years of professional experience related mechanical design and documentation in Aerospace & Defense industry
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software
Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management software
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative
Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, tolerance analysis, energetics principles, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
Ability to travel to government and supplier facilities in support of program activities (10% travel possible)
Active DoD issued security clearance
